American League, Athletic Center and National League champion Waguespack Insurance played a best-of-three series on June 15 and June 16 at Bergeron and Gaudin Memorial Park to decide the city championship.

The teams split the first two games with Waguespack winning game one by a score of 4-3, and Athletic Center won game two, 9-2.

Game three was a back-and-forth affair that went extra innings.

Athletic Center scored three runs to take a 15-12 lead into the bottom of the seventh. There, Gavin Higgins led off for Waguespack with a hard hit to left field.

Noah Lewis and Zach Dotter both singled to load the bases. Braxton Billingsley had an RBI ground out to first base to make the score 15-13 with one out.

Benji Crehen RBI-singled to left to make it a one-run game with the tying run on third. Kale Guitrau had an RBI grounder to third base to plate Dotter on a close play at home to tie the game.

Cole Delatte’s RBI ground ball to second scored Crehen to give Waguespack the victory.
