Ascension Braves take tournament at Oak Villa

The Braves are: Colt Dupuy, Jason Wakefield, Ethan Leblanc, Casey Hyde, Daniel Peeler, Robbie Martin, Reese Leblanc, Kade Despino, Tyler Cambre, Chase Baldwin and Landon Hebert.

TheAscension Braves 14 AAA team took first place in the March Madness Tournament held at Oak Villa on March 7-8--going undefeated in four games.

In the first game on Saturday, Landon Hebert and Robbie Martin combined to pitch a one-hit shutout to lead the Braves to an 8-0 win. Ethan Leblanc went 2-2, and Robbie Martin went 3-3 to lead the Braves at the plate.

The second game saw the Braves down by six runs after three innings of play. The Braves mounted a comeback and scored six runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth to get the victory by a score of 10-7.

Chase Baldwin came in, in relief and pitched three innings to get the win. Leblanc went 3-3, and Jason Wakefield was 2-3 to lead the Braves hitting.

The third game saw the Braves win by a score of 6-0 behind the pitching of Colt Dupuy. Colt pitched a complete game--allowing only three hits as he recorded the shutout. Leblanc went 2-3, and Landon Hebert went 2-3 to lead the hitting.

  The championship game saw the Braves win by a score of 16-0.

Wakefield was on the hill and threw a one-hit shutout to get the win. Jason struck out six in three innings in the 10-run-rule-shortened game.

Reese Lipoma went 3-3, and Wakefield was 2-3. Chase Baldwin, Casey Hyde and Tyler Cambre were all 1-1.

  Leblanc had and outstanding weekend at the plate, going 8-10 for an .800 average.
