Girls on the Run 5K set for Dec. 9
Run Louisiana - Girls on the Run 5K, powered by W. Higgins Adventure & Events, will take place at 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 on the grounds of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, 6400 Perkins Road in Baton Rouge. Over 1,500 runners, volunteers and spectators are expected to attend the event.
The 5K race is open to men, women, boys and girls of all ages who will run alongside 500 local third through eighth grade girls celebrating the end of their 10-week Girls on the Run session. After the race, a celebration pancake breakfast will be held with music and fun activities for all who attend.

The on-line registration fee is $25 with pre-race day packets available at Varsity Sports on Friday, Dec. 7. Race-day registration is available with a $30 fee.
Proceeds from the 5K run benefit the Girls on the Run of Greater Baton Rouge scholarship fund, allowing more than 500 girls in need the chance to participate in the 10-week after school program in 2013. Claim Your Journey, which launched the Run Louisiana Movement in 2011, hopes to raise awareness about the inactivity crisis in Louisiana and has partnered with Girls on the Run of Greater Baton Rouge to raise awareness and funds for the organization, ensuring their continued growth and success in our community.
