Challenger Sports has teamed up with the Gonzales Youth Soccer Club to bring the most popular soccer camp program in the country to this community.

Challenger’s British Soccer Camp will take place at Carver Park on July 10-14. With programs for all ages and abilities, local players will be coached by one of Challenger’s 1,200 International soccer coaches.

Each camper will receive a free camp T-shirt, ball and a soccer poster and camp certificate. In addition, any child who signs up online with challenger at least 45 days prior to camp will receive a genuine British Soccer replica Jersey.

“Our British Soccer summer camps and year-round coaching programs will boast an incredible team of coaches from Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Brazil, USA and Canada as well as our traditional team of Brits from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales. This diversity of experiences and cultures reflects the truly global nature of the sport of soccer, and we are proud to share the best practices from around the globe with the many players, parents and coaches we work with throughout North America,” Regional Director Mike Ross said.

This British Soccer Camp will provide local players with an opportunity to learn, grow and share a positive and educational camp experience, which not only develops success on the field, but also inspires confidence, happiness and builds self-esteem. The Challenger camp culture is centered around making learning fun, and their International coaching staff are famous for the way they are able to entertain, engage and educate the campers throughout the week.

The British Soccer 1,000 touches coaching syllabus provides an innovative daily regimen of foot skills, moves, juggling, tactical practices and daily tournament play. Additionally Challenger uses soccer to help introduce campers to the concepts of respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship.

The highlight of the week is the Camp World Cup, bringing both friendly competition and cultural variety to each day. The daily tournament gives campers the chance to represent a world cup team, with extra points being awarded for them making up chants, wearing the team colors of their chosen country, creating flags and learning as much as they can about their chosen countries culture.

The sessions will include: First Kicks AM from 10:30-11:30 for ages 3-4, Mini Soccer AM from 8:30-10 for ages 5-6, Half Day Camp from 8:30-11:30 for ages 7-16, Fist Kick PM from 5:30-6:30 for ages 3-4, Mini Soccer PM from 6:30-8 for ages 5-6, Half Day Camp from 5:30-8:30 for ages 7-16 and Competitive PM from 5:30-8:30 for ages 8-16.
