St. Amant dropped two straight matches in a tournament at H.L. Bourgeois, but they responded nicely with two straight victories.

The first win was a 2-1 effort against South Lafource to close out the tournament.

The next victory came on Monday evening. Playing in the friendly confines of the Gold Dome, the Lady Gators swept a game Assumption squad, 3-0.

St. Amant won the three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19.

In the victory, Megan Benoit led the way with nine kills, four digs, three assists and two blocks.

Gracie Duplechein chipped in with nine assists, nine digs and seven kills, while Zoe Richard contributed four kills and one block.

Assumption's best effort came from Ra'von Robert. She produced a match-high 12 kills and nine assists.

The win improved St. Amant's overall record to 6-4.

The Lady Gators will hit the road on Thursday evening to face Pope John Paul II. Next Monday, they'll visit last year's Division-I runner-up St. Joseph's Academy.

It was St. Joseph's that ended the Lady Gators' season in 2017, with a defeat in the state semifinals.
