It was another year and another district title for the Ascension Christian volleyball team, and many of their players were rewarded for their hard work as the All-Dictict 5-V team was released last week

The Lady Lions got off to a rough start under first-year head coach Holly Jennings--losing their first nine games of the season.

However, Ascension Christian was able to right the ship once they hit district play.

They tore through the division with a 5-1 record. It culminated in yet another district championship.

With the district crown, Ascension Christian earned a No. 18 seeding in the playoffs and met No. 15 White Castle in the opening round. The match went five sets, but the Lady Lions fell just short.

Though their season ended sooner than they would have liked, many of their players were honored last week as they were named to the all-district squad.

Six Ascension Christian players made the first and second teams, and Coach Jennings was named the district's Coach of the Year.

Three of her players were named to the first team in seniors Allyson Cambre, Hannah Blanchard and Memri Moreland.

On the second team, three more Lady Lions made the cut with Mary Abshire, Emily Millet and Lani Sanchez.
