St. Amant wins double-header over the weekend

The St. Amant volleyball team got to taste a double-dip of victory on Saturday as they beat ED White in straight sets and then finished the day off with another straight-set victory over U-High.

The day started with the ED White win. The Lady Gators won by scores of: 25-8, 25-9 and 25-22.

Toni Rodriguez had 15 kills, an assist, five digs and six blocks while Shayli Schutz had six kills and six digs. Kelly Young made it look easy when it came to assists as she collected 27 of them.

After the easy win, St. Amant met 23-6 U-High and came out with another win in straight sets by scores of: 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11.

Rodriguez led the Lady Gators once more with 24 kills, an assist, 10 digs and six blocks. Brooke de Veer was right behind in kills as she produced 11 of her own. Young was superb again in the assists department as she piled up 38 of them.

The two wins put St. Amant out to an impressive 23-4 record, and they still remain undefeated within the district at 6-0.

This evening, they will step back into district play and try to maintain their status as an unbeaten when they host Destrehan at 4:30.
