After Ascension Catholic's huge Friday, Donaldsonville's track squads headed out to LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium to try to bring home some state titles of their own as they competed in the LHSAA 3A Track and Field Championships.

The Tiger boy's team had the most success as they finished in a two-way tie with Notre Dame for 17th overall. The girls finished in a three-way tie with St. Katharine Drexel and Marksville for 20th.

John Curtis took the 3A boy's title with a 14-point victory over Franklin. Jewel Sumner, Bossier and De La Salle made up the rest of the top five.

The only top-six performance by a Tiger came from state champion Floyd Foster. Foster took the 3A title in the discus with a measurement of 159 feet and four inches.

Foster's measurement was nearly 17 feet better than runner-up Jalen Bates of Kaplan.

John Curtis also took home the 3A championship for the girls. They edged out Lusher by seven points. Sacred Heart-New Orleans, St. Louis and West Feliciana rounded out the rest of the top five.

The Donaldsonville girls were able to secure one top-six individual performance from Xenet Carter as she finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.09 seconds.

Their other top-six effort came in the form of a fifth-place finish in the 4 x 400 relay. The Lady Tiger unit finished with a time of four minutes and 22.64 seconds.
