St. Amant boys and girls win the Balfour Saints Relays

St. Amant kept the momentum going from their win at the Oil City Relays last weekend as they collected another first-place finish at the Balfour Saints Relays at West Feliciana High.

The boys raced out to a 161.5-96 win over Breaux Bridge as West Feliciana, Port Allen and Southern Lab rounded out the top five.

Jeffrey Williams had a busy day for the Gators as he finished second in the 200 with a time of 22.67 seconds and helped lead the 4 x 100 relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 43.1 seconds.

Steven Pirvu won the 400 with a time of 50.14.

From the field, Jonavan Lewis won the long-jump with a jump of 21 feet and eight inches while Bailey Richards won first-place honors with a javelin throw of 169 feet and nine inches. Beau Nickel finished right behind.

Cade Keller finished second in the high-jump with a jump of six feet and two inches with Chase Bates finishing third in the pole vault.

For the girls, St. Amant won going away with a 183.5-89 advantage over Port Allen with West Feliciana, Northeast and Baker rounding out the top five.

Destiny Bourgeois was the lone winner from the track for the Lady Gators. She won the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.98 seconds.

Erin Cain finished second in the 1,600 with a time of six minutes and 3.86 seconds, and Julia Wright finished third. Cain also finished second in the 800.

Kearra Moton finished second in the 400 with a time of one minute and 6.41 seconds while Rikki Lambert finished second in the 300 hurdles.

In the field, Bourgeois and Toni Rodriguez dominated.

The volleyball and basketball standout, Rodriguez, won both the high-jump and the javelin throw.

Bourgeois won the long-jump with a jump of 17 feet and six inches and the triple-jump with a jump of an even 36 feet. Faith Bourgeois also collected a first-place finish for throwing the discus.
