Four boy's soccer teams from Ascension Parish made the playoffs, and all four advanced to the second round.

St. Amant didn't have to break a sweat. Due to them securing the No. 4 seed in Division I, they were able to enjoy a first-round bye.

The Gators went 18-3-1 during the regular season. However, they failed to win the district for the first time in four years.

Still, they earned the high seeding and are now advancing to the second round for the fourth straight year.

In regionals, they will host No. 13 Baton Rouge on Wednesday night. Baton Rouge (13-5-4) is coming off of a 6-1 first-round victory over Airline.

Dutchtown has the second-highest seeding in the parish at No. 10. The Griffins went 11-3-6 during the regular season. Their 2-0 victory over St. Amant awarded them the District 5 championship.

In the opening round of the playoffs, they hosted No. 23 Slidell. The Griffins scored early and often in a 7-0 drubbing.

Dutchtown got off 15 shots in the first 27 minutes.

At minute 28, they took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Zayne Zezulka. Later, they took a 2-0 advantage into halftime with a score by Brock Shadle-Colon.

The Griffins scored four goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half. Two of those came from Shadle-Colon. Two others came from Ayden Rawashdeh.

Dutchtown's final goal was scored by Derick Montoya.

This is the fifth straight season in which the Griffins have reached the second round of the playoffs.

They will now hit the road to face No. 7 Lafayette, who enjoyed a first-round bye. Lafayette went 11-4-1 during the regular season. That included a 4-2 victory over Dutchtown in the season finale.

Another Division-I program that earned themselves a first-round playoff victory was East Ascension.

The Spartans came into the playoffs as the No. 14 seed. They went 13-5-2 during the regular season. In the opening round, they hosted No. 19 Hammond, who finished the year with an 8-8-5 record.

East Ascension came away with a 2-1 victory. It was the first time in two years that the Spartans advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Now, the Spartans will go on the road to face third-seeded Northshore.

Northshore had a bye in the opening round. They went 17-2-3 during the regular season.

But high-level soccer wasn't restricted to just Division I in the parish. The Ascension Christian Lions made the playoffs in Division IV.

Ascension Christian had another tremendous season. They earned the No. 12 seed after a 10-4-2 campaign.

For the second straight year, they hosted a first-round playoff game, and for the second straight year, they won a first-round contest.

The Lions squeezed past No. 21 Fisher (7-6-2) by a score of 3-2.

The victory advanced them to the second round of the playoffs, where they'll now meet fifth-seeded Northlake Christian on Thursday night.

Northlake Christian had a bye in the opening round. They finished the regular season with a 9-5-1 record.
