Parish soccer players to watch in 2017

Don’t look, but the high-school soccer season is now less than two weeks away, and as always, it should be a strong year in Ascension Parish.

Last season, all boy’s and girl’s teams reached the playoffs. That certainly may be the outcome again in 2017, with so many talented players returning.

Adelaide Gaffney, the junior forward for St. Amant returns as the most accomplished player in parish girl’s soccer. You could make a good argument that she’s the most accomplished player in all of Ascension soccer.

Gaffney is coming off of a sensational sophomore season that saw her score 33 goals and dish out 26 assists as she helped lead the Lady Gators to the second round of the playoffs.

As a result, she was named the district’s Overall MVP. She was also first-team All-State.
