ACHS soccer star signs with Louisiana College
Last week, one of the best soccer players in the parish ensured that his athletic career won’t be ending any time soon.
Ascension Christian senior Ian Carter officially signed his letters of intent to become a part of the Louisiana College soccer program.
Carter has been the driving force behind Ascension Christian’s tremendous success in the sport over the past few seasons.
He is a four-year player for the Lions, and in the past two seasons, he has helped lead Ascension Christian to the playoffs.
In 2016, the Lions went 9-5-2 and won the District 4 championship.
During this impressive run, Carter scored 24 goals and dished out 14 assists.
For the past two years, Carter has been a second-team selection on the All-State squad.
Also, this past season, Carter was named the district’s Overall MVP and he was a first-team selection on the Baton Rouge area’s Division III, IV All-Metro team.
Soccer may be the sport in which Carter will play at the next level, but it’s not the only sport in which he has excelled.
This past season, he was the starting kicker and wide receiver on an Ascension Christian football team that had its most successful season in school history.
They won more games than any Lion team as they went 8-2. Also, for the first time in program history, they beat St. John.
Carter had a phenomenal season at wideout. Statistically, he finished the year as the leading receiver in the state with 1,219 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Due to the Lions not playing a complete district schedule, he was not eligible for the All-District 6-1A team, but he was a first-team selection on the All-Parish squad.
