Recently, the Dutchtown Lacrosse Club celebrated another highly successful year as they held their annual awards banquet.
The team was celebrating a season that saw them finish ninth in the state and reach the playoffs. Their run for a championship ended with a bitter double-overtime defeat to Caddo Magnet of Shreveport.
Coaches from the Central Louisiana High School Lacrosse League voted for multiple players from Dutchtown when it came to postseason honors.
Two players were named All-State in senior attacker Nick Mueller and junior goalie Sammy Latino.
Both Latino and Mueller made the all-district team as well. They were joined by seven of their teammates.
Senior midfielder Rivers King, sophomore attacker Brandon Wolf and senior defender Trevor Roussel made all-district while junior defender Caleb Marcotte, junior midfielder Zach Miller, senior defender James D'Antoni and sophomore attacker Ted Weller all made honorable mention.
At the team awards banquet, the players were in line for more honors.
For the varsity team, the coaches awarded Mueller as the Offensive MVP. Latino was named Defensive MVP, and King earned the Iron Man Award.
For the junior-varsity team, Blaine Tucker was selected as the Offensive MVP, and Seth Howell was named Defensive MVP.
The final award given out was the James "Burke" Cobb Award. This award is given to the team member that displays outstanding commitment and tremendous character throughout the year.
