Dutchtown dropped the season opener to Mandeville in overtime 11-10.

Last Friday night, the Dutchtown Lacrosse Club, under the leadership of coaches Tim Wilson and Kevin Black, opened their regular season schedule against district foe Mandeville.

The game was tight with multiple ties occurring throughout. At the half, the score was tied at 7-7.

During the third quarter, both teams attempted numerous shots, but the tie remained. Finally, in the fourth, the Skippers came out scoring three un-answered goals--putting them up 10-7, but Dutchtown answered .

Seniors Dane Lowe, Mason Neff and Ryan Bouchereau led an exciting comeback to tie the game at 10 -10 just before the end of regulation.

The overtime period saw Dutchtown win the faceoff, but they failed to advance the ball. Mandeville scooped up the loose ball and drove inside the defense for a score that brought the game to an end under the sudden death overtime format.

Leading scorers for Dutchtown were the seniors Lowe and Neff as each finished with four goals, and Ryan Bouchereau scored two. Goalie Sammy Latino had 16 saves on 27 attempted shots on goal.

The JV game against the Skippers was a total team effort as they went on to defeat Mandeville 15-3. The quickness and tough defense of Dutchtown was the difference.

Eight different players contributed to goals. Leading scorers were: Corbin Story, Ethan Heinrick and Sammy Latino--each finishing with three goals.

Tristan Lawson scored two, Quentin Lawson, Caleb Marcotte, Nick Leonard and Hunter Martin contributed with one goal each . Goalie Baker Wusterbarth had three saves on six attempts on goal.
