This week's Louisiana Sports Writers Association high-school football polls were released today, and two teams remained in the top 10. One of those teams jumped up two spots.

This big move was made by East Ascension.

The Spartans are fresh off of an impressive 35-0 shutout victory on the road over previously unbeaten Thibodaux.

The win improved East Ascension to a perfect 3-0, which is their best start since 2013, when they began the year with a 7-0 record.

In this week's LSWA Class 5A poll, East Ascension moved up two spots from No. 5 to No. 3.

John Curtis remains at No. 1, and West Monroe is ranked second. Defending 5A champion Zachary and Acadiana round out the rest of the top five.

This week, East Ascension will be back at home as they host Cecilia (1-2) of Class 4A.

In the Class 1A poll, there was no movement by Ascension Catholic.

After a 56-26 victory over KIPP Renaissance improved them to 3-0, the Bulldogs remained in the No. 8 spot.

Kentwood stayed put at No. 1, followed by defending Division-IV champion Lafayette Christian at No. 2, defending Class 1A champion West St. John at No. 3, Southern Lab at No. 4 and Haynesville at No. 5.

Oak Grove and Logansport were ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.

Ascension Catholic will try to remain undefeated this Friday night when they host Thomas Jefferson (1-2) of Class 3A.
