The Ascension Parish School Board welcomed its two newest high-school athletic directors and head football coaches during its Feb. 2 meeting. Brian Richardson was selected by Donaldsonville High School on Jan. 19, and Darnell Lee was selected by East Ascension High School on Jan. 15.

Brian Richardson is a 1992 graduate of Donaldsonville High School (DHS). He has worked at DHS for the past 15 years as a teacher, head coach for boys and girl's track and assistant coach for football and basketball.

During his tenure, he has earned several state championships as a track coach and has served on the coaching staffs of the Red Stick/All-Metro teams.

Richardson holds a bachelor of science degree and master's degree in administration and supervision from Southern University.

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve my community.  I am a proud product of Donaldsonville and a Donaldsonville High graduate. I look forward to growing more students in this different position," Richardson said.

Darnell Lee is a 1993 graduate of East Ascension High (EA) and served as an assistant football coach for EA for the past two years.

His prior experiences include three years as head football coach and athletic director at Northwest High School in Prairie Ronde, offensive and defensive coordinator at Washington Marion High School and football operations and head football coach of two professional indoor teams: the Louisiana Swashbucklers and Alaska Wild.

Lee holds a bachelor's degree from McNeese State University, where he attended on a football scholarship.

"It's good to be back home and have the opportunity to work at my alma mater. It's a great school with great people and a great community," Lee said.
