East Ascension's Sept. 11 home clash with Thibodaux was declared their "Patriotic Game."
In addition to honoring those affected by the tragic terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001, the school also paid tribute to all those that have served the country as military personnel, firemen and police officers. They were given free admission to the game.
The Spartan student section was clad in red, white and blue, and an exhibit was displayed at the entrance of the stadium that contained a portion of the World Trade Center's I-beam structure recovered after the attack. It was there to educate the youth on 9/11, as well as represent the struggle the world still faces in defeating terrorism.
