Three Gators named to All-Academic team

Three of St. Amant's outstanding players didn't just excel on the football field this past year, they also made strides in the classroom as well.

Offensive lineman Turner Simmers, defensive lineman Reese LeBlanc and safety Beau Brown were all recently named to the LHSAA Composite All-Academic team.

For this honor, all three players were recognized at halftime of the 5A State Championship Game at the Superdome on Dec. 14.

To earn a spot on this prestigious team, student-athletes' six-semester GPA must be one of the 18 highest in all seven classifications.

These three Gators helped lead St. Amant to a 6-4 record this past season and a trip to the playoffs.

Both Simmers and LeBlanc were named first-team All-District 5-5A.
