Multiple Ascension schools compete in EBR cross-country meet

On Monday, cross country teams from the parish made the trip to Highland Park to compete in the East Baton Rouge Metro Cross Country Meet.

Ascension Catholic had the best performance of the Ascension squads as both the boys and girls finished third. The Bulldog boys finished only behind Episcopal and Catholic.

Zach Capello finished with the best individual performance of the meet as he logged up a time of 15 minutes and nine seconds. Teammate Jordan Zeringue had the 11th-best time at 16 minutes and 32 seconds.

Also in the boy's division, Dutchtown finished right behind Ascension Catholic in fourth, St. Amant finished 14th and East Ascension finished in 18th.

The Griffins' Ben Vasterling finished with the 10th-best individual time at 16 minutes and 40 seconds.

As for the girls, Ascension Catholic only finished behind Episcopal and St. Joseph's Academy.

Dutchtown finished sixth, and East Ascension finished right behind at seventh.

From the parish teams, Ascension Catholic's Stephanie Breaux was the best performer. She had the second-best individual performance of the meet as she finished with a time of 18 minutes and 30 seconds.

Dutchtown's Tara Stuntz earned the 11th-best time of the meet with a mark of 20 minutes and one second.
