The LHSAA girl’s basketball playoff brackets were released Monday evening with almost all parish teams making the cut.

The best seed was garnered by East Ascension.

The Lady Spartans are District 5-5A champions. They went 23-1 during the regular season and head into the playoffs on a 22-game winning streak.

East Ascension is the No. 2 seed in 5A and will host No. 31 Mandeville (11-17) in the opening round. Interesting enough, in 2016, it was No. 1 Mandeville that beat No. 32 East Ascension in the first round.

Also in 5A, Dutchtown (21-9) earned the No. 13 seed. They’ll host No. 20 Fontainebleau (27-4) in opening round action.

In Class 3A, Donaldsonville went 18-13 during the regular season.

They’ll head into the postseason as the No. 11 overall seed and host No. 22 Port Allen (7-18) in round one.

The Lady Tigers have beaten the Lady Pelicans twice in district play this season by a combined margin of 115-50.

In the new playoff format, Ascension Christian (14-13) made the playoff field out of Division IV.

The Lady Lions are the No. 8 seed and will enjoy a first-round bye. They’ll play ninth-seeded St. Edmund (9-18) in the second round.

Ascension Catholic was included as the No. 21 seed in Division IV. They’ll visit No. 12 Catholic of Pointe Coupee (16-7) in the opening round.
