After a 4-0 start to begin the year, the Dutchtown girl's basketball team has suffered through three straight losses.

The third of those defeats came Monday night when they lost a first-half lead and were beaten at home, 34-28, by LaGrange.

The Lady Griffins got off to a 3-0 start prior to a tournament at St. Thomas More. There, they won the first game against Teurlings Catholic but then dropped back to back games against Rayne and Acadiana.

They tried to turn things around Monday night, but LaGrange played them tough from the very start.

The first quarter saw both teams get off to a hot start. The scoring went back and forth with Dutchtown taking a 13-12 lead.

The Lady Gators finally created some separation in the second quarter as they built a five-point lead, but the Lady Griffins answered with their biggest run of the game.

Fueled by a bucket down low by La'Shon Redditt, Dutchtown went on an 8-0 tear that gave them a 22-19 advantage.

However, with the game threatening to get away from them, LaGrange responded with the most pivotal spurt of the game. They scored four straight points to end the half and take a 23-22 lead into the break.

The third quarter was extremely sloppy with both teams missing shots and turning the ball over in bunches. LaGrange scored the quarter's only bucket to take a three-point advantage into the fourth.

There, a Kelsie Baker steal followed by a breakaway lay-in finally ended an 8-0 run by the Lady Gators, but the score wasn't enough.

Dutchtown just couldn't sink shots, and LaGrange took full advantage. They were able to surge out to a seven-point lead before finally taking the ugly 34-28 win.

The defeat was the third straight for Dutchtown. They'll get yet another chance to turn things around this week as they compete in a tournament at Zachary and on Monday, they'll play at Lutcher.
