Just as the soccer playoffs wrap up, the basketball postseason gets ready to kick into high gear.

On Monday, the LHSAA released their playoff brackets for the girls, and four teams from Ascension made the cut.

The most notable entrant in the field was St. Amant in the 5A division. The Lady Gators just wrapped up a memorable regular season that saw them go 25-5 and finish the year on a 13-game winning streak.

Ten of those victories were within the district--which led to an undefeated season and St. Amant's first district title since 1992.

The great run was good enough to earn the Lady Gators a No. 13 seeding. They'll host their first-round matchup against No. 20 Broadmoor.

Broadmoor had a streaky year that culminated in a 17-11 record. They've put together six and four-game winning streaks, but they've also suffered through a six-game losing skid. They ended the season with three straight victories.

In the 3A division, Donaldsonville was able to just squeeze in despite having a losing record at 12-13.

The Lady Tigers had an up-and-down year, but they were able to end the season with momentum--winning five of their final six games.

They drew the No. 31 seed, meaning they'll have the unenvious task of going on the road to face No. 2 John Curtis.

John Curtis was a juggernaut this year--going 26-4. They ended the season winning 13 of their final 14 games.

In 1A, district foes Ascension Catholic and Ascension Christian both made the playoffs.

Ascension Christian made the field despite finishing with a losing record. It's their first playoff appearance in school history.

As the No. 30 seed, they'll have to go on the road for their opening-round game to face No. 3 Merryville--a powerhouse that went a perfect 28-0 during the regular season.

As for Ascension Catholic, they finished the year 15-13.

The Lady Bulldogs made an amazing turnaround. They started the season just 2-9 and proceeded to go 13-4 down the stretch. This included winning four of their final five games.

The strong second-half performance earned them a No. 13 seeding. They'll host No. 20 Louisiana New Tech - Plain Deal in the first round. They're a team that went 17-12 during the regular season
