Ascension has carried itself well over the years in proving that it’s one of the best parishes in the state, when it comes to baseball.

The area always features a wealth of talent. Much of that talent will find its way to the next level.

This season looks to be no different.

As Ascension’s baseball teams open their 2017 schedules, here is one of the 10 parish players to watch this year:

Ivan Prejean (St. Amant)

One of the keys to St. Amant’s run to the state quarterfinals in 2016 was the consistent hitting of infielder Ivan Prejean. Prejean was a near impossible out down the home stretch of the season as he hit .347 with 24 RBIs. He earned both first-team all-district and All-Parish honors. As a result, he signed his letters of intent to play at Nicholls.

Players Already Named:

Landon Clifton (Ascension Catholic)

Ryan Williams (East Ascension)

Tre'von Mitchell (Donaldsonville)

Nick Bellina (Ascension Catholic)
