Ascension has carried itself well over the years in proving that it’s one of the best parishes in the state, when it comes to baseball.

The area always features a wealth of talent. Much of that talent will find its way to the next level.

This season looks to be no different.

As Ascension’s baseball teams open their 2017 schedules, here is one of the 10 parish players to watch this year:

Nick Bellina (Ascension Catholic)

Pitching wasn’t the only reason why Ascension Catholic made the quarterfinals in 2016. They were deadly at the plate, and much of that success hinged on the bat of Nick Bellina. Bellina put up silly numbers as he hit .455 with 30 RBIs. It was good enough to earn him first-team all-district and All-State accolades. Bellina has signed with LSU-Eunice.

Players Already Named:

Landon Clifton (Ascension Catholic)

Ryan Williams (East Ascension)

Tre'von Mitchell (Donaldsonville)
