Ascension has carried itself well over the years in proving that it’s one of the best parishes in the state, when it comes to baseball.

The area always features a wealth of talent. Much of that talent will find its way to the next level.

This season looks to be no different.

As Ascension’s baseball teams open their 2017 schedules, here is one of the parish players to watch this year:

Landon Clifton (Ascension Catholic)

Blayne Enlow will get all the headlines heading into 2017, but Ascension Catholic’s Landon Clifton has proven to be one of the top pitchers in the state as well. Clifton was last year’s District 6-1A MVP, and he joined Enlow on the All-Parish first team. Clifton was also first-team All-State as he helped lead the Bulldogs to the state quarterfinals for a third straight season. He is an LSU-Eunice signee.
