EA inducts new members into Wall and Hall of Fames

New members joined East Ascension's Wall and Hall of Fames last Friday night prior to the Spartans' game with Zachary.

For their Wall of Fame, East Ascension inducted Luke Marchand.

Marchand is a 1981 graduated and was a four-year letterman on the football team. Ever since, he has been a longtime supporter of the program.

Marchand currently operates his restaurant, Cali-Co, in the heart of Gonzales.

He is also a member of the 300 Club, Booster Club and he is one of four creators of the Spartan-Gator Shout Out that was born in 1999.

For the Hall of Fame, three former Spartan athletes were inducted.

Joe Clement is a 1978 graduate that excelled in football and track while at East Ascension.

He went on to play college football at East Tennessee University.

His younger brother, Ronnie Clement was also inducted into this year's Hall of Fame class as well.

Ronnie is a 1987 graduate that played tailback and linebacker at East Ascension and helped the Spartans win district championships in 1984 and 1985.

He earned all-district honors and went on to play at Tulane, where he was a four-year letterman.

Finally, East Ascension inducted Lynnika Pitts.

Pitts is a 2010 graduated. She was a cheerleader, 2009 Homecoming Queen, gymnastics star and highly-decorated track athlete.

She was a two-time state indoor and three-time state outdoor high-hump champion. She also earned a triple-jump state title and still holds the school's triple-jump record at 39 feet and seven inches.

Pitts went on to be a two-time All-SEC and three-time All-American at LSU.

Internationally, she was a bronze medalist in both the 2014 US Outdoor Championship and the 2015 North American, Central American and Caribbean Championship in Costa Rica.
