In 2005, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) initiated the Golden Torch Award, which recognizes a former high school student-athlete who serves as a role model for today's student-athletes, and who went on to participate in athletics at the collegiate level.

LHSAA member schools can submit the names of former student-athletes who have attended college and meet the criteria set forth for the Golden Torch Award.

One nomination is allowed per school, and the deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, Nov. 30.

The winner will be notified at the beginning of December, and the award will be presented on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the LHSAA's Annual Convention Coca-Cola Principals' Luncheon.

For more information, visit the Students & Parents section of the LHSAA website, and choose 2012 Golden Torch Award under Related Forms & Downloads.
