St. Amant out shouts East Ascension

The East Ascension and St. Amant communities joined together for some friendly competition Thursday night at the annual Shout Out in the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

The week of events culminates with the Friday night regular season finale at The Pit in St. Amant. A golf tournament was held on Tuesday. Jambalaya sales marked Thursday.

The community raised a total of $11,000 per school this year, according to St. Amant's James LeBlanc. In the previous three years, the schools received $13,000, $12,000 and $8,000.

The St. Amant Gators won the Spirit Stick this year. The East Ascension Spartans won it in 2009 and 2010. It was the first win for the Gators since 2008.
