GEISMAR – How much of a difference can one player make in a football game?

For the Dutchtown Griffins Friday night, it was a matter of winning and losing.

The Griffins’ star senior, Landon Collins, provided just the spark the home team needed to turn back Ascension Parish and District 5-5A rivals East Ascension by a 35-25 score.

Dutchtown, the second-ranked team in the state in Class 5A, improved to 7-0 and 2-0 in district, while East Ascension fell to 4-3 and 0-2.

The Griffins’ win was in doubt through the first half of the game, as a spirited Spartans squad took the lead going into halftime.
