Ascension Catholic suffers setback against Central Catholic

Ascension Catholic fell 48-6 Friday to Central Catholic of Morgan City.

Senior Jake Lejeune caught a 44-yard pass from senior quarterback Collin Rowland. The Bulldogs were stopped inside the 5, then Central Catholic scored on a 99-yard run on its first play from scrimmage.

The Eagles, ranked fifth in Class 1A, jumped out to a 27-0 lead by halftime.

Rowland later connected with senior PJ Callegan on a 31-yard touchdown pass.

Rowland finished with 149 passing yards. The Bulldogs ran for 72 yards.

Senior defensive lineman Ryan Rodrigue recorded three sacks, while sophomore linebacker D.J. Latino had 11 tackles.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-3 on the season. They travel to St. John for a 7 p.m. Thursday kickoff.
