Ascension Catholic earns second win

The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs used a 21-point first half to cruise to a 41-13 victory over Ascension Episcopal in Lafayette.  

Senior quarterback Collin Rowland had his hand in four touchdowns, two on the ground and two in the air. Rowland connected with junior Thomas Gros and senior Alex Olivier for the passing scores. Gros added another touchdown on the ground.  

The Bulldogs scored two special teams’ touchdowns. Senior Robert Landry blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown and senior Blane Falsetta rumbled 60 yards on a short kickoff by Ascension Episcopal.  

Ascension Catholic also recorded several tackles for losses, led by senior defensive lineman Ryan Rodrigue.  

The Bulldogs moved to 2-2 on the season. They next will put a two-game winning streak on the line at Central Catholic of Morgan City, ranked in the top 10 in Class 1A heading into this last nondistrict matchup for ACHS before the starting district at St. John.
