East Ascension shuts out Sarah Reed

East Ascension’s Deandrus Ennis leaps over a Sarah Reed defender for the ball Friday night in Gonzales. The Spartans took a 49-0 win over the Olympians, improving to 2-0 on the season.

East Ascension improved to 2-0 Friday night in Gonzales as the Spartans blasted Sarah Reed, 49-0.

The Spartans scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first three quarters and added one in the final period to take a convincing win.

Deandrus Ennis recorded two of the scores. The first was a 22-yard pass from quarterback Adam Miller. He capped the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Running back Sione Palelei had another impressive outing. He opened the scoring when he broke free on a 49-yard touchdown carry.

Also in the first, running back Jarmarcus Jarvis added a touchdown on a 5-yard run.

After Ennis’ score, running back Wade Bailey added an 8-yard touchdown run before the half.

In the third, Miller threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chad Hill. Miller followed with another scoring throw, that time he connected with Devin Speligene from 22 yards out.

The Spartans ran for 144 yards and passed for 123.

In the third of four straight home games, East Ascension will host Walker Friday at Spartan Stadium in Gonzales.
