Staff reports
Dutchtown's Landon Collins

Landon Collins scored two touchdowns and recorded an interception Friday night as the senior helped the Dutchtown Griffins defeat the Lutcher Bulldogs.

Fans voted for Collins over teammate Mason Nickens, who also scored twice against Lutcher. Jordan Baptiste and Daniel Taylor of Lutcher were also in the running.

Collins ran seven times for 94 yards. His scoring runs covered 8 and 62 yards. His interception was returned to the 8-yard line, then he carried on the next play for a touchdown.

One of the most highly sought after recruits this season, Collins said his one goal is to win the state championship.

In week two, the Griffins will host Donaldsonville. Dutchtown currently ranks second in the state in the Class 5A poll.
