The East Ascension boys basketball team wore green and yellow Gonzales uniforms Thursday night in honor of the 1957 state champions.

The Gonzales Bulldogs topped Baker 63-60 to win the Class A title in 1957.

East Ascension head coach Kenny Almond and his squad recognized members of the team prior to the tip-off Thursday.

It was a 1950s atmosphere on campus as a Chevy from the era was parked outside of the gym. Cheerleaders and dancers also donned attire from the period.

Director Erin Perdue led the choir in a performance of the Gonzales High alma mater before the game.

East Ascension went on to take an 84-42 win over Lutcher.

Devonte Fisher led the way with 16 points, including three three-pointers.

Tyler Wright finished with 15, Curtis Watts had 13 and Jamal Steward added 10.

The Spartans improved to a 15-7 record.
