Dutchtown advances with 35-27 win over Covington

GEISMAR - The top-seeded Dutchtown Griffins took a 35-27 win over No. 32 Covington Friday night in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Covington held on to hope of an upset until Dutchtown's Landon Collins intercepted a pass late in the fourth, allowing the Griffins to put the game away.

Dutchtown's Effrem Reed compiled 230 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the way.
