Hahnville holds off St. Amant

Hahnville rolled to a 38-13 win over St. Amant Friday night.

The Tigers (6-2) were led by running back Ahmad White, who recorded 282 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.

St. Amant (4-5, 1-3) compiled 213 yards of total offense in the District 6-5A matchup.

Hahnville scored first when quarterback Brian Ensminger carried on a 1-yard touchdown run. White accounted for 39 yards on seven carries on the nine-play drive.

The Tigers went on to take a 14-0 lead. Ensminger hit tight end Desvon Joseph for 40 yards to set up his 7-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Derek Howard four plays later.

Howard and Ensminger connected again on a 79-yard touchdown pass with 4:04 left in the second quarter.

Howard finished with four receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns, all of which came in the first half.

In the third quarter, the Tigers picked up where they left off. White started the half with a 65-yard run.

Following a fumble, White atoned for the mistake with a 30-yard touchdown run, lifting Hahnville to a 28-0 lead.

After the scoring run, St. Amant scored its first points. Senior fullback Matt Marrero carried up the middle for a 56-yard touchdown.

The Gators struck again when senior quarterback Jaylin LeBlanc kept on an option and ran around the right side for 62 yards. The point after failed, and the Tigers held on to a 31-13 lead.

Hahnville added some insurance when White went 40 yards on a touchdown run. The score gave the Tigers a 38-13 lead with around six minutes left in the game.

St. Amant finishes the regular season schedule Friday night at Destrehan.
