St. Amant running back Daniel St. Pierre scored three touchdowns to pace the Gators' 24-0 win Thursday night in the Ascension-Livingston Jamboree Challenge at East Ascension's Spartan Stadium.

Head coach David Oliver said the performance will be good to build on.

"I wanted to see us come out with intensity, like we really wanted to play football," he said. "I thought we were a little flat in our scrimmage at Acadiana. I like how we came out fired up. We made some big plays.

St. Amant quarterback Jaylin LeBlanc led the team with 63 rushing yards on eight attempts. He also competed 3 of 4 passes for 49 yards.

St. Pierre finished with 61 rushing yards on six carries.

He put the first points on the scoreboard with a 34-yard touchdown dash.

St. Amant kicker Justin Manton added a 17-yard field goal with 7:52 left in the half.

St. Pierre also scored on a 5-yard carry with 11:45 left in the second half, and on a 1-yard run with 4:54 remaining.

Oliver also pointed to the play of the defense in the shutout performance. The Gators were without two key defenders in defensive tackle Seth Vaccaro and defensive back Breck Schexnayder.

"It was good to see the young guys step in and respond," he said.
