TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Kennedy Chandler and John Fulkerson are out for Tennessee basketball's game against Alabama on Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19.

Chandler and Fulkerson both returned to Knoxville after time off over Christmas with symptoms and tested positive. Both are expected to return for Tennessee before the Vols face Ole Miss on Jan. 5.

Assistant coach Justin Gainey also is not with Tennessee in Tuscaloosa in accordance with SEC COVID-19 protocols.

No. 15 Tennessee (9-2) faces No. 19 Alabama (9-3) to open SEC play at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday (ESPN2).

Chandler is Tennessee's leading scorer. The freshman point guard is averaging 14 points and a team-leading 5.3 assists per game.

Fulkerson had a 24-point, 10-rebound outing in UT's 77-73 win against then-No. 4 Arizona on Dec. 22. He was named the SEC co-player of the week Monday.
