This week, Alabama safety and former Dutchtown Griffin Landon Collins was named first-team AP All-American.

He was also named first-team All-SEC by both AP and the Coaches.

The junior flourished in his first full year as a starter--piling up 91 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble.

Collins was also a finalist for both the Thorpe and Nagurski Awards. He helped the Crimson Tide rank No. 11 in total defense.

That high defensive mark allowed Alabama to finish the regular season 12-1, win the SEC Championship and head into the playoffs as the top-ranked team. In their first-round matchup, they'll play No. 4 Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's.
