The LSU women’s basketball program has signed Alexis Hyder, a 5-11 forward who spent the last two seasons at North Texas.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Hyder will sit out the 2014-15 season and be eligible to compete as a redshirt junior beginning in 2015-16. She will be allowed to practice with the Lady Tigers during the 2014-15 year.

Hyder averaged 12.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while starting 51 of 59 games for the Mean Green. She earned All-Sun Belt Conference third-team honors as a freshman after her 14.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game were each ranked among the league’s top 10.

Over her two seasons at North Texas, Hyder registered a 49.5 field goal percentage. The Austin, Texas native racked up 20-plus points on seven occasions and collected 13 double-doubles.

The Lady Tigers have secured three consecutive 20-plus win seasons and three NCAA Tournament appearances highlighted by back-to-back Sweet 16 trips under Nikki Caldwell.
