Pitcher Henri Faucheux has joined the LSU baseball program for the 2014 season and will start attending classes on Monday when the fall semester begins.

Faucheux, a native of LaPlace, transferred to LSU from Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The 6-0, 185-pound junior left-hander was a two-time High School All-American at Riverside Academy in Reserve.

"Henri is a solid college left-handed pitcher who has a mid-to-high 80s fastball and a big, sharp, overhand curveball that will eat up left-handed hitters with regularity," LSU coach Paul Mainieri said.

"We will look for him to develop a quality change-up to add to his arsenal so that he can log more innings for us as a more complete pitcher," Mainieri continued. "At a minimum, we see Henri being a situational lefty to get tough left-handed hitters out."

The 2014 LSU squad will engage in conditioning drills and individual workouts beginning on Sept. 3.

The Tigers begin their six-week, full-squad fall practice session on Sept. 29. The 2014 season starts on Feb. 14 when LSU plays host to the University of New Orleans in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
