Alabama football lands top-ranked 2022 edge rusher Jeremiah Alexander from Thompson
He's back with Alabama football.
Alabama has picked up a commitment from 6-foot-2, 235-pound Thompson High edge rusher Jeremiah Alexander, the nation's No. 16-ranked prospect in the Class of 2022. Alexander, who had decommitted from Alabama nine months ago, announced the decision on Instagram on Thursday.
To keep the top-ranked in-state recruit, Alabama staved off a strong push from Clemson, which Alexander called his leader in June. Alexander is the top-ranked edge rusher in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite, and Alabama's 10th known commitment.

Alexander decommitted from Alabama before Thompson's state championship run in 2020. Georgia, UCF and USC were other suitors that Alexander ruled out before his commitment became a two-horse race between between Alabama and Clemson.
Alabama has gained four known commitments since in-person recruiting resumed in June.
The Crimson Tide is getting a disruptor in Alexander, who caused and recovered three fumbles, had nine sacks and 31 tackles for loss as he helped Thompson win the state championship during his junior season.
Alexander is Alabama's highest-ranked commitment and fifth on defense. Alabama landed another in-state commitment, Antonio Kite of Anniston, on Sunday and Florida pass-catcher Amari Niblack in June. Baton Rouge running back Le'Veon Moss was Alabama's first commitment of June.
The Crimson Tide has commitments from the two highest-ranked in-state recruits and three of the top five.
