Gonzales was able to share in the 21st running of the Hot Rod Power Tour last Friday as the event came to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center.

Despite rainy conditions early on, hordes of spectators and participants made their way out to be part of the fun.

The event had many features for those in attendance to enjoy as it concluded its seven-day, seven-city, 1,500-mile journey from Madison, Wis., to Baton Rouge and Gonzales.

In between, the tour makes stops in Champaign, Ill., Madison, Ill., Millington, Tenn., Birmingham, Ala., and Gulfport, Miss.

Throughout the event, more than 5,800 participants and 100,000 spectators took part. Many even continued to travel along with the tour until it was complete.

The tour was presented by Chevrolet Performance and driven by Continental Tire. It's often considered the best high-end automotive tour in the world.

It welcomes all makes and models of hot rods, street rods, custom trucks, muscle cars and performance machines of every vintage and nameplate.

Hundreds of car-owners participated in the event Friday as hot rods, vintage cars, street racers and so many others filled almost every inch of the parking area at the Lamar Dixon.
