Boating safety class to be offered this Saturday

Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-10 will teach a one-day course session of “About Boating Safety." The class will be at Cabela's this Saturday.
The class will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The fee is $25.
Some of the topics covered will be: maintaining your boat, navigation rules, navigation lights, operating a boat safely, casting off and docking, anchoring, state and federal requirements, what to do in emergencies, enjoying water sports, filing a boat plan, fueling your boat, new state boating laws and many other topics.
Louisiana now has a mandatory boating education law. All persons born after Jan. 1, 1984. must complete a boating education course and carry proof of completion to operate a motorboat in excess of 10 horsepower.
