The Angler Magazine is hosting "Hook Kids on Fishing" at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center tomorrow from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

This free youth-focused event encourages kids to discover the thrill and excitement that fishing can offer them away from remote controls, iPads and computer screens. The first 150 kids that enter the gates will receive a goody-filled back pack.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and "Hook Kids on Fishing" stations will begin at 9 a.m. Each of the seven stations will be led by local fishing captains to teach kids about safety on the water, conservation, hooks and rigging, casting, tackle, catch and release and rod-handling. The first 50 kids to complete all seven stations will be eligible to receive a free rod and reel.

Come out and enjoy this fun-filled day complete with games, space walks, food, snowballs, balloon-making, face-painting and much more.

The Angler Magazine is proud to partner with other organizations like the Coastal Conservation Association, The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, State Farm, Campers to Go, Paradise Louisiana, Cajun Outboards and Louisiana Fish Fry to create an informative and entertaining day for kids in Ascension.

"'Hook Kids on Fishing' celebrates our love of the outdoors and is intended to encourage more kids to develop a passion for fishing," said Steve McDaniel, owner of the Angler Magazine.  "The Angler Magazine is proud to provide local kids an avenue to learn fundamental information that can help foster a lifelong love and respect for all that our Louisiana waters have to offer."

For additional information about attending "Hook Kids on Fishing" or if you would like to participate by setting up a booth, you can contact Steve McDaniel at (225) 243-7074.
