The Ascension Parish 4-H Shooting Team recently received a grant from the National Rifle Association for the purchase of new shooting sports equipment.

Through this grant, they were able to purchase new air rifles, bb guns, clay targets and archery equipment.

The club started the year with 95 competitors with 40 of them competing in the Louisiana 4-H Southern Regional and 24 qualifying for the state competition.

Because of these grants, they are able to get the necessary equipment for their members to get the practice they need to be able to compete.

Grants from the NRA also help keep the expenses down for the parents whose kids are in their program. The more equipment they can get through these grants for the kids, the more time they get to spend on the range learning firearm and archery safety and getting to spend more time practicing.

Some of this equipment can be very expensive and without grants like this from the NRA, it would be very difficult for their program to continue to grow.

They want to thank the Pelican State Chapter of the NRA for their fund-raising efforts so clubs like theirs and others can continue the tradition of the shooting sports. Without them, they would not be able to teach the upcoming generations to continue this tradition.
