The St. Amant and Ascension Christian volleyball teams remained perfect in their respective districts last week.

The Lady Gators came out of the weekend with an up-and-down performance in the Red-Hot Sticker Classic but were ready to take on parish and district rival Dutchtown a few days later.

In the Geaux Pink Game at Dutchtown, St. Amant rolled over the Lady Griffins 3-0.

They jumped all over them early on--winning the first set with ease at 25-10. The second set wasn't much more of a challenge as they closed it out 25-13.

With their backs against the wall, Dutchtown played hard in the decisive third set and put up a game effort but in the end, the Lady Gators closed out the match with a 25-20 victory.

In the win, Alli Duplechein commanded the net with a match-high 11 kills and five blocks. Kelly Young had 25 assists while Kara Gremillion had a match-high 17 digs.

As for Dutchtown, Kristen Thompson had a team-high six kills, and Tiyena Brown led her squad with 17 assists.

The victory jumped St. Amant's record to 13-8 overall and a perfect 3-0 in district play. They're currently ranked No. 4 in the state power rankings.

The Lady Griffins aren't that far behind record wise. The loss dropped them to 12-8 overall and gave them their first district defeat. They're currently No. 14 in the power rankings.

Ascension Christian got a victory in their district opener last week. They cruised past Family Christian 3-0.

They had a comfortable 25-12 win in the opening set and then absolutely dominated the second 25-3. To close the match out, they rolled to a 25-12 victory once again.

Reyna Jones and Sidney Sehon were strong at the net. Jones led with 14 kills while Sehon was right behind with 10 of her own.

Victoria Schexnayder had a huge game as well--finishing with a match-high 26 assists.
