Dutchtown girls take 62-54 win over Terrebonne in bidistrict playoff

Ka’neshia Cobbins led Dutchtown with 17 points in the 62-54 playoff win over Terrebonne Thursday night.

GEISMAR – Ninth-seeded Dutchtown pulled away in the second half and held off Terrebonne Thursday night in the bidistrict round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

After playing to a 24-24 time in the first half, Dutchtown stretched out a lead in the third quarter and went on to a 62-54 win.

Dutchtown (26-4) had four players notch double figures:?Ka’Neshia Cobbins (17 points), Latoya Evans (16 points), Brittany Lacy (15 points)?and Maureen Gross (11 points). Brelle Ford added three.

Raina Briggs led Terrebonne (16-10) with 18 points. Brittany Spots recorded 16.

Dutchtown advances to the regional round next. The Griffins will play at John Ehret.

DONALDSONVILLE 73, LUSHER?CHARTER?9:?The top-seeded Tigers cruised in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Bianca Harvey scored a game-high 20 points for Donaldsonville (28-1).

Also scoring in double figures were: Kendra Coleman (18 points), Patrice West (13 points) and Kayla Mollere (12 points).

In the regional round, Donaldsonville will host Evangel Christian.

GUEYDAN 49, ASCENSION CATHOLIC 43: No. 20 Gueydan took an upset win over the No. 13 Bulldogs in the bidistrict round.

Alyce Dominique had a game-high 18 points and Tykean Wise added 12 for Ascension Catholic.
