Donaldsonville girls top power ranking, Dutchtown takes ninth

A pair of Ascension Parish girls basketball teams rank in the top ten of their respective classes heading into the playoffs.

Donaldsonville finished first in the Class 2A power ranking with a 20.37. The Tigers finished with a 27-1 overall record.

Dutchtown finished ninth in Class 5A with a 17.36 ranking. The Griffins ended the season with a 25-4 mark.

Dutchtown went 9-1 in District 6-5A. The Griffins avenged their only loss (48-46 to Hahnville) by topping the Tigers 64-44 in the final regular season game Friday night.

In a tie-breaker game played at East Ascension on Saturday, Dutchtown took a 48-41 win over Hahnville.

The victory gave the Griffins the top playoff spot in 6-5A.

Latoya Evans and Victoria Lowery each scored 15 points to lead the Griffins. Kaelynn Boyd notched a game-high 23 points for Hahnville (18-10). Dutchtown led 25-17 at half.
