The 12U Gonzales Thunder All Star team swept both the PONY Regional in St. Amant and the Super Regional tournament in Moss Bluff.

In the final game of pool play at  the Super Regional, short stop Cameron Matherne suffered a leg injury while sliding into third base. The injury would remove her from play for the remainder of the tournament. Her final words to her teammates were “Y’all better win!” Using Cam’s words as inspiration, Coach Brant Kohan and crew made the necessary adjustments and the Thunder ended pool play as the number 1 seed. T

he remainder of the tournament was dedicated to Cameron as the Thunder adopted “For Cam” as their motto. The Thunder battled on to find themselves as the only undefeated team in the tournament, facing the Moss Bluff Broncos in the championship game. The game remained close until the fifth inning when the Thunder rallied to put up 13 runs. They went on the defeat Moss Bluff 22-7.
